Why did you apply for the Godolphin Flying Start scholarship back in 2023?
I applied because of the unique opportunities the program offers to its participants. With a clear
desire to pursue a career in the Thoroughbred industry, applying was an easy decision. I was
fortunate to learn about the program early in college, and it quickly became one of my major goals.
Who has had the most influence on you since you commenced the programme?
It’s difficult to pinpoint just one person who has had the most influence on me, as the
programme has provided me with the incredible opportunity to meet so many inspiring
individuals. However, one person who has stood out to me is graduate Arvin Chadee from
Godolphin Australia. He consistently made himself available to offer advice and guidance at a
pivotal moment in the course when we were all beginning to seriously focus on securing jobs
and for that I am very grateful. He had a massive and positive influence on my outlook on my
career path and how to go about finding my first job outside the course.
What did you learn from your externships?
I gained invaluable insight into the operations at Taylor Made one of the largest consignment and one of the most
prominent stud farms in the USA. My experience with Clarke Bloodstock in Australia further expanded my knowledge,
particularly in understanding desirable physical conformation traits and pedigree attributes specific to the Australian
market. Jim was a wealth of knowledge throughout my time with him and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to work with
him.
What did you miss about home when you travelled around the world for two years?
I’d say what I missed most was my friends and family as well as Keeneland spring and fall meets.
What is the next step for you?
Next I’d like to try and attain a position within the breeding/bloodstock side of the industry and I’d like to have a focus on
sales as well whether that’s stallion nominations or a consignment. I’d be open to taking a position in America or in the
southern hemisphere
