Why did you apply for the Godolphin Flying Start scholarship back in 2023?
To gain global experience, leadership skills, and industry connections while aligning my passion for
thoroughbreds with professional development opportunities whilst also being able to gain a broader
understanding of facility and operational management.
Who has had the most influence on you since you commenced the programme?
Through the amount of industry leaders that I have come across whilst being on the program, I
don’t think I can say there has been singular person has influenced me the most. Instead, I’ve
drawn inspiration from many people from different sectors within the industry and different
nations.
What did you learn from your externships?
Through my externships at Keeneland and the Australian Turf Club I have developed skills in Raceday and sales
operations, client relations, data analysis, and crisis management while gaining insights into general global industry
dynamics and how they relate. The beauty of being on the flying start is being able to see how different jurisdictions
operate, witnessing what works well, and what could improve.
What did you miss about home when you travelled around the world for two years?
Whilst on the course, I missed a variety of different aspects from home, including friends, family and culture. Although
being able to be on the course has been an excellent opportunity and something I wouldn’t change.
What is the next step for you?
In the future, I would like to serve as some form of consultant for race clubs internationally. My goal is to bridge the gap
between the client and construction firms, ensuring that facilities are designed and built with welfare, efficiency, and
functionality in mind from a horseman’s perspective. Hopefully, by leveraging my knowledge across sectors, I aim to create
environments that meet the needs of staff, horses, and the stakeholders.
