Why did you apply for the Godolphin Flying Start scholarship back in 2023?
It’s an incredible programme that provides the opportunity to learn from the best, gain global
exposure and build valuable networks – all within two years. It offers the chance to gain invaluable
insights and expertise from leaders in the thoroughbred industry, as well as the opportunity to
attend the world’s best international racing events. It was the perfect platform for me to take my
skills and knowledge to the next level.
Who has had the most influence on you since you commenced the programme?
This is the toughest question I’ve been asked on the course! There are so many people to
whom I owe so much—Ryan Mahan, Graham Motion, Olly Tait, and Bruce Slade, just to name
a few. One person who showed me a new level of what can be achieved in our industry is
Sebastian Hutch. “There’s always work to be done” was a quote he really drove into me,
whether that meant going above and beyond for clients or making new connections.
What did you learn from your externships?
I did my externship with Graham Motion in America and with Inglis in Australia. I learned about the importance of
attention to detail in horse care and training. Observing how Graham manages each horse’s individual needs was
incredible. The team at Inglis was phenomenal and incredibly innovative. Both experiences were truly incredible, and I
can’t thank Graham and the Inglis team enough for the opportunity they gave me.
What did you miss about home when you travelled around the world for two years?
Friends, family and the dogs. You really appreciate how important family is when you are away.
What is the next step for you?
The next step for me is to secure a job that I am truly passionate about. I also aim to repay the trust and generosity that
HH Sheikh Mohammed and Godolphin have given me by becoming an industry leader, working to help grow the sport, and
continuing to ensure that horses receive the highest level of care around the world .
