Godolphin Australia is based in the magnificent Hunter Valley in New South Wales, and this is where the trainees commence their second year, and fourth phase, of Godolphin Flying Start. Commencing in August, this phase is five months long. They live in shared apartments in the small town of Aberdeen within a few kilometres of all of the leading Australian stud farms. Local racing takes place at Scone and Muswellbrook, and trainees attend racing at Randwick and Rosehill in Sydney at weekends. Their Learning to be a Leader module takes place at Macquarie Graduate School of Management and they gain practical experience with trainers and stud farms each morning at Flying Start partner farms in the Hunter Valley. Modules include Management Workshops and Communication skills. Trainees complete their second externship of the program for eight weeks at the end of this phase, wrapping up with the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale.
