Ivanna Dempsey

What horse got you interested in the Thoroughbred industry?

Faraday Light and Yavana’s Pace.

Why did you apply for the Godolphin Flying Start scholarship?

I have applied for the Godolphin Flying Start Programme to enhance my knowledge and gain valuable insights from leading global Thoroughbred breeding and racing professionals. My experience at Ross O’Sullivan Racing and my summer in Kentucky at Springhouse Farm, where I worked with bloodstock and participated in major sales with Paramount and Derryluskin Stud, have further fueled my passion for the industry. Over the next two years, I am eager to expand my industry knowledge with global leaders, build meaningful connections, and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Have you any siblings?

Yes, I have a sister, Sara and a brother, James. Both work at home on the farm, and James competes in the Tetrathlon.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Riding out, farming, running, rugby, hockey, eventing and travel.

What did you think you will miss most about home while you travel through each of the five phases?

I’ll miss my dogs, my friends and family, watching the development of our horses at home, and the Irish milk!
