Upon graduating from Godolphin Flying Start in 2014, Camilla Whishaw returned to Australia to work for Vinery Stud as a stallion groom. At the conclusion of the stud season, she was employed in the unique position as an Equine Naturopath at Darley (Godolphin) Kelvinside. Here she developed a holistic rehabilitation program and actively oversaw and managed the successful rehabilitation of many of the organisation’s racehorses, with a number of these horses going on to achieve Group wins after their period of rehabilitation. She also developed and oversaw treatment programs to help improve stallion fertility.
Capitalising upon her success, in 2016, Camilla set up her own business OPTIM EQUINE, consulting as an Equine Naturopath. Through her groundbreaking work as an Equine Naturopath, Camilla is helping to change and shape the way we approach health, illness and injury in the horse.
Based in Australia, she consults both nationally and globally. She brings much credibility and respect to the appropriate use of natural medicine. Camilla is passionate about solving challenging equine health conditions, through holistically evaluating horses and employing nutrition, supplementation, western herbal medicine and management practices. She specialises in all equine health conditions including fertility of both stallions and mares, immune and gut health challenges and rehabilitation and soundness issues of both race horses and sport horses. She has had great success using her holistic integrated approach, often working alongside some of the worlds most respected veterinarians.
Beyond directly consulting and treating horses, Camilla regularly presents educational seminars and contributes to written publications.
The significance of her groundbreaking work in the equine world is recognised beyond the horse industry: she was awarded runner up at 2020 Natrapreneur X Factor Awards in the Innovation of the Year category.
