Golden Slipper Success for Newgate Farm

Great success for 2005 graduate Henry Field and his team at Newgate Farm:

A brilliant victory by superstar colt Capitalist in the $3.5 million Group I ATC Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday was the culmination of a dream come true for the team at Newgate Farm.

At yearling sales in 2015, Newgate Farm joined a partnership put together by James Harron Bloodstock which set out to purchase top quality colts with the view to creating stallions of the future.

Purchased for $165,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Daandine Stud, Written Tycoon colt Capitalist was the first colt to be up and running when winning the Listed ATC Breeders Plate last spring and has not looked back.

Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Capitalist won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January and was then able to peak again at Rosehill last Saturday to win the world’s richest two year-old race.

He is the first colt to win both iconic races and among his owners is US based SF Bloodstock, who are now the first owners to be involved with a Slipper winner and a Kentucky Derby winner having also raced Super Saver.

The stallion roster at Newgate Farm going forward will include both Golden Slipper winner Capitalist and Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice, offering breeders the very best in precocious Australian speed lines.

The Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond are races that consistently produce the best sires in the country and Newgate Farm feel privileged to guide the stud careers of both winners.
