Horsemanship and Riding Video Guidelines

As part of the selection process, you are required to submit a riding and horsemanship video. The minimum standard required is that you can ride a quiet horse in an enclosed area at walk, trot and canter. You must wear a riding helmet, back protector and suitable footwear.

Video quality:

  • Riders face must be visible
  • Maximum video duration – 3 minutes
  • Do not add music to your video

Skills to be demonstrated in your video are:

  • Tacking up your horse with a saddle and bridle
  • Riding at walk, trot and canter
  • Correct position of hands, legs and body in walk, trot and canter
  • Secure position in the saddle
  • Rising trot
  • Smooth transitions from walk to trot to canter and back again
  • Control of your horse in straight lines, changing rein and in circles
