Vision and Structure

Introduction

 

Godolphin Flying Start is a two year full-time international management and leadership training programme for the thoroughbred industry. Founded in 2003 it is the brainchild of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum of Dubai. 12 candidates are selected annually to receive the scholarship which includes course fees, accommodation, transport, health insurance and a monthly allowance.

Accreditation

Godolphin Flying Start is accredited by the University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Business School as a Graduate Certificate in Management (Thoroughbred Industry). Other accrediting bodies include the University of Arizona (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) and Kentucky Horseshoeing School.

 

Governance

Godolphin Flying Start was registered with the UK Charity Commission as the “Godolphin International Thoroughbred Leadership Programme” and is a charitable company limited by guarantee. The primary object of the charity, as stated in its governing document, is “to advance standards and knowledge in the management of thoroughbred horses by the establishment of a programme to train and develop students who wish to pursue a senior management level career in the thoroughbred horse business and to award successful students with a qualification recognising their achievement”.
